One Week of Soccer Allies – Time for Some Homework

The week since we first launched our Allies List has been amazing to say the least. Seeing folks from all parts of the soccer community reach out to us and sign on is such a powerful message about how special the sport we love is. Now that we’re a week in, we are going to start working to the grow the list even more, and ask you all to join us in occasional assignments to help us out.

In the next week, the NOH8 Campaign is holding a couple photo shoots in MLS cities. NOH8 is something of a silent protest to stand up for GLBT equality. MLS players Justin Braun (Montreal Impact) Mike Chabala (Portland Timbers), and Michael Lahoud (Chivas USA) have all participated in the project. Justin and Michael were the first two professional athletes to be photographed together while they were both at Chivas USA.

NOH8 will be having a photo shoot in Los Angeles on Saturday and their first ever shoot in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

Please help us get the word out to players for Chivas USA, LA Galaxy, and Real Salt Lake who are back in town ready for preseason and let them know you’d like to see them participate in this great project. Share this post with them and others in the soccer community and let them know if they have any questions they can feel free to contact us on Twitter (@gay4soccer) or by email (gay4soccer@gmail.com). Also let them know that they will get lots of appreciation from us here on the site if they stand up as part of NOH8 and take some time out of their busy schedules to participate.

Here are teams’ player Twitter lists to help you get started:
