Happy New Year! One feature we will be bringing you almost daily is a set of “happy hour links” – a few things we think you’ll be talking about with your friends at your local watering hole tonight.
Of course the biggest story of the day was that David Beckham declined a move to Paris-St. Germain opting to likely stay in Los Angeles. Family ties to LA being the apparent reason, is it because Posh just couldn’t say goodbye to her favorite Rodeo Drive shops or is it just too hard to do regular hidden camera videos with Ellen Degeneres while working in France?
CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying begins in Vancouver later this month, and yesterday Pia Sundhage called up 29 players to the pre-tournament training camp.
It’s the last day to vote for Outsports 2011 Jerk of the Year. Nominees include Nigeria’s National Women’s Team Coach Eucharia Uche who purged her team of lesbians. Let’s keep on working to keep the 2012 nominee list American soccer-free.
Finally, yesterday the TV network Versus became NBC Sports Network, featuring this awesome video that continues to make it look like they’ll do a great job with MLS coverage making it a cornerstone for the new enterprise.
